Zephyrian Woodwind Orchestra

 
 

The Zephyrian Woodwind Orchestra was founded in 1994, as an amateur group for woodwind players of a high standard; evolving out of a clarinet choir, started in 1988 for pupils of Richard Carder.


In 1995 Zephyrian commissioned Mor Gwyns from Judith Bailey, and gave the first performance in the Bath Festival Fringe. In 1996 Zephyrian gave the premiere of West Wind by Eddie McGuire at the Cheltenham Music Festival, and has played regularly in the Bath Festival since 2001.


In 1998 ZWO won the Gold Award at the Finals of the National Concert Band Festival in Chepstow.


In 2009 ZWO commissioned ‘Water Music’ by Michael Short, which was premiered in the Fringe Festival in June, & was recorded on Mynstrallsy CD
